In order to send Unicode messages, the user's keyboard has to be set to the language they wish to send the SMS in - for example for Arabic messages the user has to set their keyboard to Arabic - select the Unicode icon, type the message, select the recipient from their phone book and click on send. Unicode messages are limited to 70 characters whereas normal English non-latin character messages complies to the 160 GSM std.
